Title	Classics encyclopedia acquisition reception, 1988
Description	Reception in the Shelmidine Room of Collins Memorial Library to celebrate the university's Apr 1988 acquisition of "Paulys Realencyclopadie der Classischen--Altertumswissenschaft" (Paulys Encyclopedia of Classical Studies). According to the Jun 1988 issue of Arches, the $8,000 set was purchased with funds provided by Professor Mott Greene's MacArthur Foundation grant, the Honors Program, and the departments of classics, English, foreign languages, philosophy, and physics. The encyclopedia covers the scientific, literary, cultural, religious, political, and social life of the Ancient Mediterranean in classical times. The encyclopedia consists of more than seventy volumes, all in German.
